Anil Unveils Online Gaming Portal
Reliance ADA Group, led by Anil Ambani, has entered online casual gaming business with the launch of zapak.com — with an initial portfolio of about 150 games. Soon to come would be Massively Multiplayer Online Games and exclusive gaming cafes.
“We would be investing $100 million over the next three years in people, technology, content, and distribution,” said Rohit Sharma, chief operating officer, Zapak Digital Entertainment.
Zapak is in talks with gaming companies in China, Korea, and the US for licensing their content, particularly in the MMOG space, even as it begins to build its own.
Sharma said while Zapak would concentrate on the online and downloadable personal computer games segment, group company Jump Games would focus on the mobile gaming space.
The gaming market in India, currently at a nascent stage, is expected to grow to $200 million by 2010. Globally, the gaming industry is expected to be a $53 billion industry by 2008 from $35 billion.
