When a friend says SORRY...
How would you feel after a friend whom you have helped along the way of your life to call back at you and say "THANK YOU FOR THE HELP YOU HAVE GIVEN ME." It just feels terrible, 'cause for the fact that you would have helped the person without expecting anything in return or for the fact that you could turn to that person when you require help. But the words - "THANK YOU FOR THE HELP YOU HAVE GIVEN ME" sounds a little too chilling for the one who has gone about his job without expecting anything.
Friends are there in life to help you when you are not able to turn to your parents or relatives due to the respective circumstances that you face in life. I also faced many and have always turned to my friends for their wisdon and guidance. But, I have always believed that "SORRY", THANK YOU / THANKS", and "WELCOME" do not and should not come in the way of friendship. Nor should money be allowed to control you emotions for the same. In my case this is what happened, and what I felt.
Just this morning (04-May-06 11:45 AM), I was about to fall asleep when I noticed that I had received a missed call from one of my friends (whom I really do admire for being there when you need help) on my cell phone. I called back and the chat was like - how r u, what's going on, wht u doing, and the usual stuff.
Things took a turn when the matter where I had helped the friend (ABC) came up. ABC said it was nice of me to help and then she said it "THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP". I was so frustrated because ABC had to say such a thing that eventually I got to the mood where I could not talk as I felt a lump in my throat and I hung up on ABC.
I knew it was a bad thing to do, but considering that I was a little close to ABC and could not speak out of sorrow, grief, and just could not get the words to come out. I really felt bad, as I had never expected such a thing from ABC because I helped ABC without expecting anything and knew that ABC would come good when I was in need of any help.
For the friends out there it is an uspoken language of helping each other and being helped when in need without even muttering a single word, a slight look, a simple smile is enough as a reward.
